30 Days Wild - Day 20

Apologies for the lack of comments... I've been away for the weekend and doubt I'll find much time to catch up!

This is a grey reef shark outside The Deep in Hull - what a fabulous place, run for conservation rather than profit. Today I visited The Deep, saw the sea for the first time in nearly 2 years and then joined The Shark Trust.

hmmm. I think I like the sharks better up on a block like this than in the water when I or children will be swimming. We've had more than usual number of shark attacks in the east cost of US this year. Or maybe they got more publicity.

Interesting sculpture. Sounds like an enjoyable weekend for you.

I love sharks they are amazing creatures and not the man eaters they are made out to be. Good on you for joining the shark trust.

@annied I agree... they get so much bad press. I'd have joined the shark trust a lot sooner if I'd heard of it before Sunday!

@roachling only on my phone but flicked over to "the deep" page and see they have saw fish - we have some in Sydney aquarium - they are awesome. The Deep would be first on my list of things to see if I came your way - after Yorkshire area and Peak District for more personal reasons.

@annied yes, it's brilliant - it's about a three hour drive north east from me and it was my first visit there but I'll definitely go again... there are lots of photos of things I saw there on the blog link.

Terrific sculpture! It must be difficult not seeing the ocean for 2 years - I've not seen mine for a week and I'm having withdrawal symptoms :)

@gilbertwood I've always lived where I live and here in central England, I'm not far from the point where you are the furthest distance away from the coast possible in the UK... A trip to the sea has always been rare and exciting to me, and I often go long periods without seeing the sea!

What a beautiful sculpture, and I like the sound of The Deep's being run for conservation and not profit.
