Just read yur blog on this. It's so great that you write these, such a pleasure and interesting to read. I love that caterpillar, is that his eye. I prob have seen this plant loads without realising what it is.
@jennywren Those markings just look like eyes! I don't think you can see his eyes. You can see the caterpillar's 'trunk' though - the long nose that give the elephant hawk moth its name!
