Buxton Well Dressing by roachling

Buxton Well Dressing

I took a photo of this one yesterday too, in much better conditions (it was cloudy) but then had an evening walk and decided to use my Thor's Cave photo. I had to go to Buxton again today so took the opportunity to take another photo. It's commemorating Emily Bronte and the verse at the bottom (which you can't make out in the photo) is a couple of lines from her poem The Visionary;

Watching every cloud, dreading every breeze
That whirls the wildering drift, and bends the groaning trees.

You can see the photo I took yesterday here

Before I even read your narrative, the well dressing made me think of Cathy and Heathcliffe! It's beautiful and haunting at the same time.
