Day 3, Cradeling the Egg by rob257

Day 3, Cradeling the Egg

What will they say? "Heck, I remember when you were nothing but a hard brown oval. We helped to keep you warm."?
They are kind of creepy without the pretty feathers.
Thanks for the up close and personal here.

Shirley, Tara and Cathy,
Thanks for the kind words. After a weekend trip to NYC this weekend things should get hectic: in addition to the robins, the monarchs have stopped eating and some are hanging upside down. Stay tuned.

@carolmw
Carol, Mom was actually "out" when I stopped in this a.m. Even so, I limit myself to about 1 min. maximum; half a dozen quick shots, then I leave for the day.

Rob, are these the birds your neighbor is letting you shoot as they grow? That's really neat the way the two hatchlings are cuddling the remaining egg!

Cool shot..they are not pretty at this stage. Think the egg is a dud, they always hatch together.

@lyno
Lyn, Yes, the same! Going away for the weekend. Can't wait to see what they look like on Monday. They change so fast.

@lynnb
I'm wondering about the 3rd egg too. After loosing 2 loon eggs, and 2 loon chicks, I'll settle for 2 out of 3! ;-)

Gorgeous capture...
August 18th, 2012
Nice capture; I think that egg's a goner. They'll probably toss it out.
August 18th, 2012
They are awesome! I hope they grow up quickly and safely!
August 18th, 2012
Oh my! How sweet!!
August 19th, 2012
Beautiful capture ... they are so vulnerable and fragile!! Won't be long and they'll "leave the nest!" Love the pov and the textures and colors!!
