It's hard to believe that four years ago today (Jan. 23, 2020), China made the unprecedented move to restrict 18 million people due to Covid 19.
Pandora's box was opened and our lives were and have been changed in unimaginable ways. Lock downs, mask mandates and travel restrictions were the "new normal".
After month(s) of first identifying the virus, China finally closed off the City of Wuhan, (11 million people) and placed a restricted access protocol on Huanggang (7 million), 48 km to the east. (Jan. 23, 2020)
According to China Morning Post (scmp.com), China’s first confirmed Covid-19 case was traced back to November 17, 2019.
…. And still things are quite different. I worked all through this, caring for the elderly & had the virus once during this time. As a care home we were quite “lucky” in that we only lost 5 residents in total to Covid, could have been a lot worse.
The first two Covid-19 cases in the UK were discovered here in York, just a couple of miles from where we live, and were two visitors from China.
