Light-footed Clapper Rail

An elusive Clapper Rail at Newport Backbay. They normally hide deep in the vegetation bordering marshes. A federally listed endangered species due to habitat loss.

What a great bird to manage to photograph. Our water rails here in England are also very elusive. I was lucky enough to see on with chicks once!! This looks quite large too.
