Nectar Thief by robv

Nectar Thief

Several of these Carpenter Bees were stealing the nectar from the Penstemon flowers this afternoon. They're strong enough to force the petals apart at the basal nectaries without entering the flower tube and picking up or delivering pollen. The theft is of the reward for pollinating without performing the service. Everybody has an angle......
that is amazing! I find the detail in the eye very interesting when magnified. - great shot!
