I visited the Army Medical Museum next to Fort Detrick. There is a fascinating and sometimes overwhelming collection of medical specimens with many examples of the damage inflicted upon combatants by the weapons of war. The civil war is dominant in the display cases but even after seeing bullet riddled bones in case after case I wasn't really prepared for this. The bullet that killed Abraham Lincoln........... I still haven't sorted out the thoughts and feelings evoked.
