I guess this is "prison week." I had the chance to visit the the Missouri State Penitentiary over the weekend. It was an amazing place to visit, so you are getting an overload of prison and architectural shots. Sorry. This is the central area of another living unit.
Actually, the light was really beautiful, if you can get past the other surroundings. Kind of slammed (again) at work and at home, so I am pleased to have a wealth of shots to share this week of a unique and complex space.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting, as time permits.

Another clean composition with well straightened lines. My inclination would have been to lose the balustrade in the bottom of the frame, but keeping it, like you did, certainly gives it more depth and perspective and is the better way to go for sure.
@cejaanderson I just named it "Cathedral," because it felt like one. It is the center area of a housing unit. There are three or four floors of cells, rising up and surrounding this open space. The light was pretty.
Don't apologize for posting these amazing shots. Great architecture, fascinating history, and terrific images. This one works so well in b&w -- and I'm glad @cejaanderson asked the question...I was trying to imagine bringing convicts together in an area that large, but think the title is perfect as contrast of image/lighting and the purpose of the space.
@taffy Thank you! I don't know when else I will have a chance to put these shots in my project, as the space was so unique, so I am going to run out the ground balls for this week. :)
Fabulous B&W image! Love all those lines and beautiful light! Great composition! Thanks for your kind comments on my shots and the follow! Fav and following!
