It is Veteran's Day, here in the U.S. Much like Remembrance Day, abroad. Of course, we made the pilgrimage to Arlington National Cemetery. Over 600 acres, home to over 14,000 graves of veterans, some dating back to the Civil War. JFK is buried here, other members of his family, etc.
I have never been here before, much less on this day. Here is the Tomb of the Unknown Solder. The honor guard is passing by. The wreath had been laid by President Obama, shortly before this.
This unknown soldier is "known but to God." The blocked words on the memorial front. Very moving, of course. I have "prettier" shots from today, but none more emblematic of sacrifice and duty.
