We visited the Congressional Cemetery this morning (Washington, D.C.). Behold! Mathew Brady's grave.
Prolific and iconic photographer of the Civil War. Often referred to as the "father of photojournalism." Also, his portrait of Abraham Lincoln formed the basis for the $5 bill and the penny.
Suitable, since my beloved camera showed me the "black screen of death" moments before the supermoon was to rise over the DC horizon, framed by the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Capitol Building. Seriously... painful.

Oh ratzz, a dead camera is the pits, and always happens at just the wrong time. What a shame, the moon is fabulous too. But I like this shot a lot anyway, must check out his work.
Wait, what??? Your camera has met its end? And on the day you photograph the father of photojournalism. Mmmmmm....significant for sure...not sure though how...and VERY sorry to learn of your camera's potential demise. I know you liked it a lot!
Interesting photo and history -- I will do some reading -- thanks.
