Not a terribly good shot but I had to post it because I am so excited that I found a pair of yellowhammers in Wood Lane today which means that they may well breed. As they are on the RSPB red list, this would be tremendous! It's been a good birding weekend as I have also seen about 10 redwings today as well.
Great shit if these super little birds. Did you know their song goes ' little bit of bread and no cheese'!? We have a tiny colony living in a field hedge down the lane from us but they are quite secretive.
Fantastic - looking forward to pics of baby yellowhammers! I'm slightly depressed as I walked Monty through the local fields - all scrubby and fairly unattractive but teeming with birds - and in the process of being 'developed' - yet more habitat gone.
@dandolo@mariasdz@sunnygreenwood@skstein@judithg Thanks for your great comments. I am hoping that they will mate and that the countryside provides them with all the things they need for a successful brood

@caddick I hope they are male & female as I don't think there will be any offspring if not!
