Insects galore

When I left work today I thought I would have a walk around Priory but when I started to leave the business park I saw a large group of youngsters and thought better of it. They weren't that old but I thought that the number of them posed a bit of a threat as I had Big Bertha with me and since my experience there when I felt quite intimidated, I decided to turn round and go for a walk in Dog Field that I discovered last week. Before I left though I saw a yellow wagtail fly off from near the river so that was nice although I didn't get any shots of him.

There were lots of insects in Dog Field but I didn't see many birds although I could hear them twittering in the trees. I'm not sure what this is although to me, it looks like a horse fly. It was investigating the wild mint.

Thank you for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated.

Super shot. Lots of people seem to think it's a bee. I must say that was my first thought. I think it's too colourful for a horse-fly

@maggiemae Big Bertha is my 80-400mm lens that is large and heavy! I had a nasty experience when 2 men on bikes started circling around me and I had to change directions and run after another couple who were walking in the opposite direction
