Taken from the church car park in Haynes Church End. At one time this was a girls private school called the Hawnes. I'm not sure whether it is still a school - in fact I don't think it is now.
That is so weird! I stopped to take three pictures down the drive to the old school for my elder sister who (now lives close) but once went to school in this beautiful setting. Clarendon Girls school. It caught fire and burnt through the bedrooms and she and the rest of the girls went to spend the rest of the term on a static caravan park in Colwyn Bay! After the fire, the school later moved and the place is now, according to the sign at the gate "Science of the Soul" ...whatever that is..! Great picture as mine were all foggy yesterday!
@caddick That's so amazing that we both went there and of course I had forgotten it was Clarendon before it was later called the Hawnes. I wonder whether it is a place of spiritual retreat now - it certainly looks a lovely restful place so it would be quite appropriate for that purpose
@rosiekind The exterior looks wonderful now. I can remember visiting the place around 1979/80ish and seeing the wood paneling inside the front hall, and I remember a very large staircase...though I was only a lad so everything seemed massive!
