I tried out the HDR setting on my camera and this is the result. It is a rather unusual fungi growing out of a piece of wood on the patio. Not the most exciting pic but it was just a trial of the camera setting

This looks a bit like
Laccaria laccata, a toadstool also known as The Deceiver, apparently because they are so variable in appearance.
-------- but then it might not be!
If you ever find a good book in identifying fungi please let me know!
