It's not just the Bangladeshi community who barter. This Italian lady was trying her best to get something for virtually nothing and as you can see, the market trader is saying to her "Watch my lips" and he wasn't giving in. I don't blame him. I wasn't going to buy anything but if you had seen the lovely vine tomatoes he was selling, you just couldn't resist. I bought a huge bowl for £1 and would have been happy paying double because the week before, I had paid £2.20 in M&S for 4 large tomatoes and I got 13 large vine tomatoes for a £1. No wonder he said to the lady "watch my lips". It would have been criminal to pay anything less.
