Wishing everyone a happy, creative and prosperous New Year.
This wasn't taken by me (it's me in the shot), it was taken by Bekki. Neither was it taken on January 1st, but earlier in 2011 on one of our photo excursions in and around the area that I grew up in, to show her some of the sights before she had to return to The States. I've chosen it for its feeling of hopefulness and I think there's a certain purposefulness too among all the greenery. It's a positive projection if you like for the oncoming year, that the year will feel like this. A good, sunlit place to walk towards, covering old ground and new. Mainly though to simply walk on despite any hardships that may come my way. What's that line from Kipling's "If"? It sticks in my head. I think it goes something like, "If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two impostors just the same."
Love the framing of this one Matt - great sunny shot (you must've been on another planet to get sun like this today - i've never see rain like it down in the South!!) Happy New Year to you
M, this is the day I was speaking about. The one that is my favorite memory. We had such a lovely day that day holding hands, laughing, and spending quiet time together. I am hopeful looking at this photo also.
Leaving your page up, but have to get some sleep tonight.
