Also known as Lynx or Caracal. One of the smaller cats found in the wild. Very elusive and not often seen. We were lucky enough to come across two on our trip. One crossed the road in front of us and this chap was having a meal.
I just love the tufted ears.
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
the only lynx i've seen ever are the drawings in a book. :-) pretty much like this one, only in the drawings, the lynx had jewels all over it. :-) very nice capture.
such gorgeous animals... we are lucky enough to have a wild one here around our home, I've never seen it, but some of my neighbors have! It was hand-raised by one of the game-rangers living here. It was found in the boot of a car hired from Avis when he was only a few days old... no one has ever worked out how it got there! Anyways, when Avis (what the Lnyx was named) grew up, he went back to the wild, but has always stayed in our nieghbourhood.
@monkeykid They are gorgeous animals. When we lived on farm outside Stellenbosch there was a young rooikat living on the farm . He was captured though and moved as he was attacking and killing the cats on the farm. It was a working dairy farm so there were a fair number of feral cats living around the dairy. It is suspected that one of the farmer's cats and one of our cats was taken by him. Thankfully he wasn't shot but relocated!
