A fantastic wall mural at the new art gallery in Tulbagh. There are 11 portraits in total. The sun umbrellas in front of the wall help to show the scale of the portraits
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
@ludwigsdiana there's also a small cheese deli, a coffee bar and a shop selling Wonki ware plus other goodies. These are currently only open Friday through Sunday but the gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday. It's situated on Church Street.
@jamibann they are all people who live or have lived in Tulbagh. I have no idea why the artist chose the people he did, there is a self portrait of the artist there as well. He is sixth from the right but you cannot really see him very well in this picture. The portraits are painted onto the wall and have a sheet of perspex in front that has some detailing on it. I will have to take some close up pictures of the mural.
Impressive art work- the scale of murals always amazes me, especially when they are as large as these or larger. I wonder what the criteria was for his selection of these people.
