the Last of the Water Lilies by samae

the Last of the Water Lilies

Soon the lilies will go dormant in the koi pond. Captured this last night as we were feeding the fish. It was 90*F yesterday so we can still feed them. Once temperatures go below 50* we shouldn't.
Had a little play with textures.

Thanks for your comments on my pelican series. I can't promise that there won't be more in future, once I can get out there again in kayak or boat.

Appreciate your time, comments and favs.
Beautiful shot and texture.

@momamo When the water temperature gets colder, the koi's digestive system slows down . They won't be able to digest the food. When the water gets below 41*F we stop feeding them, because they will start hibernation mode. During this time, the food could rot in their stomachs and cause infection which would kill them. They still swim around etc., and can clean their house by eating things off the bottom or rocks. We will start feeding again in the spring.
