Thank God I had another opportunity to photograph another part of this collection of shark jaws and teeth owned by a friend. The picture shows the jaw of a Sand Tiger Shark caught in the Mediterranean. This is a rare species of shark and lives close to the bottom of the sea. This specimen would have been around 3.5metres long. Unfortunately, it got caught in fishing nets and was pulled up dead. Sharks are not very common in the Mediterranean, and surely very rare sightings have been made around Malta. For my part, although I am an avid swimmer I would get a mile close to such a jaw.
My friend has been building this collection for quite some time but has now lost interest in it. Regrettable for me, he has decided to sell the whole lot if he finds an appropriate opportunity.
