The Mein Schiff 3 seen berthed along the quay. The common denominator is Valletta: the ship is registered in Valletta and berthed at the Valletta Waterfront. One interesting thing is that Malta's ship registry is the largest merchant flag in the European Union and the sixth worldwide.
I took this shot last Sunday when we went for lunch to celebrate Mothers’ Day. Formerly a landing place for cargo with stores along the whole front, this has been transformed into a cruise liner terminal and the old stores converted into chic restaurants and other outlets.
There was a lot of activity there on Mothers’ Day both for the many tourists, coaches, taxis ect related to the ship’s arrival and for the many people who, like us, chose this place for their Mothers’ Day lunch .
Joke: On one cruise ship an old French lady smuggled a dog aboard. After the ship went to sea she took it out of her handbag and carried it around.
An AB saw the dog and said "excuse me but dogs aren't' allowed on this ship"
The lady said while wrinkling her nose "No dogs? You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant. Imagine!" and she stormed off.
Later the AB got a call from the bridge that a dog was bothering guests in the dinning area. He found the same old lady and said "Excuse me but next time I see that dog it will be removed from the vessel"
The old lady screwed up her eyes and said "You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant. Imagine!" and stormed off.
Later that day the AB walked by the child care area and saw the dog latched onto a child's leg. He grabbed the dog which turned and tried to bite him; so the AB chucked it through the nearest porthole and it quickly drowned.
The lady was livid and demanded to talk to the captain. 15 minutes later the old man arrived and she said to him "You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant. First this man scolded me, then told me not to let my dog in the dinning area and then threw my pooch out the porthole! Imagine! You must fire this man"
The captain turned to the AB and said " I ain't going to fire you but I will give you a warning for lack of good judgement because you've thrown the wrong bitch out the porthole,"
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture. Very much appreciated.
Great view on, and capture of, a thing some call it still a boat. I think it`s a sailing flat/apartment . Have lived near a shipyard/town where they where build. What has this the same with a beautiful old Clipper ship only that both float ?
