Date: 17/04; time: approx. 10.00pm. Place: Ghar id-Dud (pronounced 'are id-dood'). The place is almost deserted but in a few weeks time when the weather is hotter and the scholastic year is over all benches will be occupied on both sides, there are two open air eating places, one on each side of the place and a mobile kiosk in the middle all with tables and chairs totally full of people, hundreds of people will be strolling up and down or in groups discussing subjects as varied as the stars and the street will be full of cars looking out for a free parking space along the kerb (there is a multi-storey car park close by but there one has to pay). Life here will go on till very late at night a very big difference from today.
Lovely photo of this great promenade. Pity that the place is filthy with car noise and exhaust when it gets busy in Summer! I prefer it when it is quiet in Winter especially after some of our precious and rare rain.
Thanks. In summer, because of the crowds I do not go to Ghar id-Dud but further along the promenade but I promise I will take a shot in summer if my wife would be prepared to walk up to there.
Thanks. Will try to take a shot when Ghar id-Dud is full of people though I don't know how I can handle it in the dark - moving bodies would not be focused. Perhaps I will try it at twilight.
