This is my last opportunity to capture this – to us Maltese – ugly main entrance into Valletta –as on 1st May it will start to be demolished to make way for a more appropriate (hopefully) entrance to the city built by ‘Gentlemen for Gentlemen’. The new entrance was designed by the world famous architect Renzo Piano. A model of the new entrance was made available to the public for their comments - I am still sceptical on the design. Perhaps I would be able to post a picture of the new entrance in due course.

The British gate replaced a previous gate by the Knights of St John & Malta which must have been even more beautiful (seeing from other gates erected by the Knights).
Great shot and processing! Great caption too...and I agree with your comments! I only know the previous gates from old post cards but they had more cha
@jenrobcarr , From the model I have seen it does not seem to be anything grand like the baroque ones built by the Knights of St John. However Renzo Piano, the Architect, is the best one around in the whole of Europe. Hope I will still be here when it's ready so I could post a pic of it. @bill_d
