BALLUTA'S TURN by sangwann

BALLUTA'S TURN

No parish festa in Malta is a festa without fireworks - the Balluta parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is no exception. A fireworks display is normally held on the eve of the feast, around 22.30 or 23.00. Skies are light with the colourful bursts from the fireworks and ears shattered with the sound of petards. Immediately a feast is over, enthusiasts start collecting money - even going from door to door of the parish - for the next year's expenses. There are fireworks factories all over the Maltese Islands and many risks are taken to improve on the quality of the 'rockets' which may even reach the size of an average adult. Maltese fireworks factories have on several occasions competed abroad and brought back very good results.
