View of Matthias Church, the Royal Palace and Fishermen’s Bastion on the Buda side of the River Danube. A castle existed here even way back in the 13th century. The present Palace dates from the 18th to the 19th century. Fishermen’s Bastion was built between 1895 and 1902 and named after the guild of fishermen that was responsible for defending this stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages.
