Back to my UK vacation album.
It was 2nd October, 2011, exactly one month ago and we had to check out from our B&B in Marlowe. The previous day we had celebrated Ian’s graduation. On this fateful Sunday morning, I was awake before daybreak waiting to take some sunrise pictures. Sunrise came with a thick covering of clouds. Instead of sunrise I managed to capture this bird landing on a tree bough. Was this a harbinger? A harbinger of death? Who would have told me at the time that in 3 hours time, while on our trip to our next stop, in Snowdonia, I would receive that devastating call telling me that my dad had just passed suddenly and unexpectantly away. My dilemma was then whether to return home for the funeral (christine, Denise and Ian had left it to me to decide). I decided against this option and still feel pangs of regret for taking this decision. But I know my dad would have approved of it – he was such a good man. Rest in peace dad.
Same thing happened to me when my mum passed away 7 years ago. At the time I was holidaying in Scotland with my children and their spouses and together we decided to rush back to Malta for the burial.
Sorry for posting this picture and recounting this sad account - normally I am a very cheerful and jovial person – but couldn’t resist it today.
Awesome shot! love the silhouette and the lens flare! We were all devastated by Granddad's loss but you being abroad was very tough on you! May he R.I.P.
Your dad knew you loved him, that's what counts x
