BACK WHERE IT BELONGS

Took this picture at the Church dedicated to Our Lady Mother of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sliema – shot taken without tripod. The pulpit on the left hand side has been returned to its original location after being discarded in a chapel behind the main altar for decades – ever since preaching from pulpits was no longer ‘in fashion’. This pulpit, manufactured in 1936, is an exquisite example of Maltese craftsmanship. For a view of the church as it appeared without the pulpit and for more information please visit my pictures at:

@steeler @chamal @digitalrn @hobgoblinwychwo @buttercup @friendie @sarasdadandmom @buccigrossi @btaylor @pyrrhula @johnnyfrs @pulguis @kerristephens Thank you so much for commenting. Carole, nowadays, priests give their message from the lectern where the readings from the Holy Bible are made. Some priests prefer, also, to go down closer to the faithful to make lthe homily more homely.

@jenrobcarr It is my pleasure to share the little knowledge I have about Malta and other places and that which I gather from the internet with my friend 365ers. It is I who have to thank you for looking at my pictures and for your lovely comments which I await daily. I too have to thank you for the beautiful shots you post, especially of birds which otherwise I wouldn't even believe that exist. I love too your marvellous sense of humour. A Merry Christmas to you too and to all your family.

I agree - very ornate. I think some of the modern churches have lost the reverence by being too 'modern'.
