Thousands of people thronged the main streets of Acireale to watch the parade or just to make merry. The Italians have a saying: ‘A carnivale tutto vale’ (which translates to ‘ during carnival-time everything is permissible). Many people, young and old, wore something indicative of the festivity, there were plenty of wigs of different colours, long ears and other fancy ornaments. Ian (Ian Busuttil (@ivb), my son-in-law, and I had such a buzz chasing fancy dressed youngsters to capture candid shots or just asking them to pose for a shoot. These are a few of the pictures I took. In the narrative to one of my previous pictures I mentioned the throwing of confetti. Well, a look at the streets in these pictures one can see that they are all covered with these confetti.
We had a terrible storm last night, which, though the wind and rain have subsided is still on. We were warned yesterday that winds would reach hurricane force of around 140 Km.p.h. Thank God all is ok and so first thing in the morning, after breakfast I grabbed my camera and off to the Sliema promenade to capture some rough sea shots. I don’t regret it, even though I now have to see how to clean the camera from the salt water. Will show some pictures later on in the week.
Thank you so very much for looking and for your wonderful comments on my pictures.
