This is a close-up shot of the titular statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The statue is exposed in the middle of the church in yesterday's posting. The statue of the titular saint of a parish is brought out from its niche one week before the actual feast. During the subsequent weekdays band marches walk along the streets of the parish until 11.00pm or even later and are normally finished off with fire crackers or a few fireworks rockets - the majority of these are left for the feast day.
To answer Vicki Dixon's query, the chandeliers as well as all the red damask are only brought out and mounted for the feast.
Thank you so very much for looking and for your wonderful comments on yesterday's picture .
Another statue with such beautiful artistry- obviously a labor of devotion and love- both for the artist who made it and for those who decorate the sanctuary.
