On the eve of the feast of the parish of St Gregory in Sliema, I managed to capture some ground fireworks – I don’t know how you call them but the name we give this sort of fireworks is because they are not rocketed into the sky but are held on poles some 4 or 3.5 mtr above street level. These fireworks have small squibs (I’m not sure if this is the right word) which are tied to moving parts of the structure and which, when lit, drive these moving parts until they get spent.
This is the first time I have tried my hands at these shots. It was very difficult to find a medium between speed and exposure to capture well the light and the movement but I may have got the knack of it and will try shooting them again in the future – not before next summer though.
Thank you for looking and for your wonderful comments on yesterday's picture
