Today, I was between two minds whether I should post a picture related to the Risen Christ or to this shot and I opted for this one after having posted two ‘religious’ pictures in the last two days.
This is my figolla (pron: fig-ol-la). My wife, Christine, made this for me for Easter as well as some more to give away to my 2 children, their spouses and Michaela and her two brothers’ families.
This is Malta’s special treat for Easter – pastry filled with almond paste and covered with icing or almond pastry and shaped into whatever shape one likes - delicious. Some people also add half an Easter egg on top. The younger generation are becoming too busy to make them themselves nowadays so they either buy them ready made or else opt for cheaper options - Easter Eggs.
Christine’s figolli (plural of figolla) are so yummy . JP can vouch for that.
Tomorrow the Jeff and Nick saga continues.
Thank you all so very much for looking and for your lovely comments on my yesterday’s picture.
Yum! That sounds like a really tasty cake! My mum used to make something similar, but without the outer layer of marzipan. I hope you enjoyed your figolla :)
