The collage shows the city wall which were erected by the Knights of St John in the early 18th century. The old medieval walls are on another side of Mdina. The modifications made by the Order was to give better protection according to military exigences of the time to the people taking refuge in the city.
Restoration on these walls had been going on for some years and works on this part have been completed with the clearance of the ditch from many orange trees which hid the bastions and which have been pruned and moved to provide a complete view of the walls.
News: Howard Steele, please note. The Diver Magazine’s 35,000 readers voted for Malta above all European countries in their annual “Diver Awards”. Diver Magazine ranked Malta as the third best diving destination in the world, following the Red Sea in Egypt and the Maldives.
Thank you so very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterdays picture.

Ha ha,yes i new that .... why do think i want to visit Malta so desperately.
I'm not a diver, but I think I'd still put Malta on my list of places to visit if I ever become a millionaire thanks to your wonderful pictures and verbal tours of Malta's rich and beautiful history!
What a beautiful collage and loved reading the history Dad!
@steeler ...if you come to Malta you have to come and say hello Howard! I had a patient from South Africa 2 days ago (recognised her English accent, she is living in Malta) and told her that what I knew of South Africa was through a friend on 365 (i.e. yourself) and that it looked beautiful...and she obviously agreed! :))
