While strolling around Xaghra (Gozo) I couldn’t believe my eyes – there he was, Captain Schettino of the Costa Concordia. And I said to myself :”That’s him. He must have come to Gozo to get away from the crowd and the Italian police.” I took out my mob and was going to phone the police when he said ‘Hi’ and then I knew he was my brother-in-law – he had just put on a Costa cap. My brother-in-law used to form part of the local agency for Costa Cruises. Would you believe this? His name is Joe – so many Maltese of my generation are called that or its derivatives.

Saw this in the thumbnail and was all set for another chapter in the adventures of Nick and Jeff. So disappointed that it was only a shot of a notorious criminal, errr, brother-in-law.
