Took this shot on Sunday, the festa day after the procession with the titular statue had come out of the church and was going round the parish streets. This is a view from across the bay showing the church façade and all the street decorations. I do not carry my camera tripod with me but this time I had a bollard on which to prop the camera. The two storey houses which line this part of the road on each side of the church are protected by law. They are the only remaining example of Maltese houses along the waterfront - all the others have been knocked down to make way for apartment blocks which have no character. In the foreground is the kids pool of the Neptunes Waterpolo Club. On the left can be seen part of the grown-ups pool.
To answer Richard Saffold’s query – all the work in connection with the festa – except (not sure) for the light festoons – is carried by volunteers from the parish.
Tomorrow: Jeff and Nick – The sequel. In fact I’m trying to keep my appointment with them every Thursday.
Fantastic capture. The buildings in many of your images look like they are built for a biblical movie set. Parts of this scene could be back hundreds of years. Fav Thank you for sharing.
I do hope Jeff's going to be OK!
