20th August. My collection of shots from Ljubljana goes on and on but this is the last I will show. On the right is the monument of France Preseren who lived between 1800 and 1849. He is considered as the greatest poet among Slovenes. His poetry was predominantly lyrical and primarily dealt with his unfulfilled love for Julija Primic. His poetry also dealt with his love for his homeland and the suffering humanity. The monument is situated on the eastern side of Preseren Square, It faces a street on the other side of the square where a house has the sculpture in the left picture of Julija Primic on the façade – in this house Julija lived. It is made to look like Preseren is looking at his lady love – very romantic and, perhaps, even sad.
After a lovely- though rainy morning – day in Ljubljana we returned to the town where we were lodged – Bled, a fabulous place. I will be showing some great shots from there.
Thank you very much for looking and for your wonderful comments on yesterday’s picture.
