Finally, I have finishing making the Maltese clock (Arloġġ tal-Lira). I haven’t worked much on it these last months; have been very busy with other chores. Not 100% satisfied but it still looks great in its allotted place in the house. I have included myself in the shot to show the size. Now I have to take the clock face to the clockmaker to have the clockwork installed.
Jean-Pierre and Louise and Ian and Denise are very enthusiastic about it. Coming Winter I will start making one for each of them and one for Christine’s brother who painted the clock face for me.
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday’s picture.
It looks wonderful, Dione, fabulous work! I've so enjoyed seeing your lovely clock take shape, thank you for sharing it with us. Nice to see you in this too.
@artseyanne Thank you, Anne. I'm not sure Frank can find plans on google. The Maltese clock has been always a personalised thing and makers use their own designs and whims. I copied the one I made from a photo I've seen in a book. I only had the size of the clock case to work on. It took me a lot of trials to make the rest of the clock. I made patterns on plywood and tried them on the case to see how they fit.
Such a beautiful clock; you have done so well to make this well done.It has been interesting to see this progress and the end result does not disappoint.
@sangwann Thank you Dione, you are right, no plans on Google, Will have to talk to him about it, but I don't think he has the patience.....don't tell him I said that!!
