The shots in this collage are of the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo – Saint Michael the Arcangel - in Citta’ Sant’Angelo which we visited on our second day in the province of Abruzzo, Italy..
Pictures are:
• Left row - the portal which dates from the 14th century
• Middle row top and middle – close-ups of the sculptures on the portal
• Middle row bottom – colonnaded side of the church
• Top right – close-up of the statue of St Michael crushing the devil on top of the portal
• Right row – general view of the church with the bell tower.
Since it was Maundy Thursday, I remembered that I hadn’t bought Christine (my wife) a present for Easter. Our next stop after the Citta’ San’t Angelo was to be a mega shopping mall and so I said to myself ‘Either buy her present from there or there will be no present at all this year’. Tomorrow, if you are interested I will show you what I bought her.
Thank you very much for looking and for your wonderful comments and the fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
The carvings have great character, and I particularly like the shot which is in the middle, third one down, colonnaded side of the church. So interesting. Wouldn't mind see that one full size.
