The most important Yacht Race in the Mediterranean, the Rolex Middle Sea Race which is organised by the Malta Yacht Club took off last Saturday from Valletta Grand Harbour. I couldn’t go watch as I wanted to go and watch Max – will show shots of Max later. But on Friday I went to Ta’ Xbiex Yacht Marina to take some shots of the crews preparing their sailing yachts for the race. In this shot you can see the confusion along one of the pontoons where crew members are preparing for the race. These are a few of the smaller yachts to take part which are lined at the entrance to the Marina.
Joke: The old yachtsman, Gordon, died. So his wife, Susan, went to the local paper to put a notice in the obituaries columns.
The gentleman at the counter, after offering his condolences asked Susan what she would like to say about her husband.
Susan replied: “You just put: ‘Gordon died’”.
The gentleman, somewhat perplexed said: “Is that all? Just ‘Gordon died’? Surely there must be something more you’d like to add about Gordon”
After a few minutes of silence, Susan, finally said: “O.K. you put in ‘Gordon died. Sailboat for sale.’”
Many thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
Very lively and busy scene.....I can just imagine what traffic would be like for the races, and how many people will show up!! Hope the weather is good!
Exciting atmosphere for all involved.
