From the 3rd day of our Sicily holiday - 21st September, 2015
This is the main square of Ortigia, the historic centre of Syracuse. The architecture is very similar to the old buildings that can be found in Malta. The strong links between Malta and Sicily are manifested in one of the most important streets in Syracuse being called ‘Via Malta’ (Malta Street) which we passed through on our way – and very close - to Ortigia and which I wasn’t aware of before I saw the street sign.
Joke: Two blonde men were working on an old house. One blonde was on a ladder nailing supports to the eroded walls. He’d reach into his nail pouch, pull out a nail, look at it, and either toss it over his shoulder or proceed to nail it into the wood.
The other blonde couldn’t stand it any longer and yelled up, “Why are you throwing some of the nails away? ”
The first blonde explained, “When I pull it out of my nail pouch, if it’s pointed toward me it’s not good and I throw it away. If it’s pointed toward the house, then I can use it!”
The second blonde got real excited and called him all kinds of names, explaining, “Don’t throw away those nails that are pointed toward you! They’re for the other side of the house!!”
Thank you very much for looking and for the lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
A great capture of this beautiful square and the nice processing to look old fashion. Fav.
So it can be even worse. It`s frighten me. I think it is, or sure will be soon, human kind`s biggest problem . Overpopulation .
