Yes, that was my feeling last Saturday morning. I woke up and went out early deciding to pay a visit to the horse racing track at Marsa. As soon as you start approaching the area you feel you are entering a different world, all dedicated and rotating around the horse. I liked driving slowly around part of the walls of the racecourse; there were groups of men talking about horses, stacks of hay, sulkies against walls, men cleaning stables and others walking their horses the same way people walk their dogs. Then I entered the track which is open to everyone when the races aren’t on. Men were coming in or leaving with their horses.
So I took my position, hoping to see some horses on training. I really wished to see those trotting horses which I admire when I see their elegant stride on tv. I understood that there was another practice track close by but I didn’t know if I was allowed in – all the horses that came in were taken to this secondary track. Then I saw this horse and sulky coming into the track and said to myself: “Now’s the time to take some shots.” The jockey took his horse three times around the track, starting at a slow pace and increasing the speed each successive round. It was over in a very short time – at least I managed a few shots which I’m not very proud of.
I waited some time to see if I could capture some more horses going through their paces but although horses continued coming into the precincts they all went in the opposite direction and disappeared from sight.
Thank you so much for looking and for the fun comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
Lovely action shot love the light in the mane and the foaming mouth I had a horse that would foaming as she worked.
