This is a Maltese Luzzu waiting for the next fishing trip.
Around 1000BC the Phoenicians decided to colonize Malta. They bequethed the Maltese the designs of their lovely coloured boats. Our Luzzu (pronounced loot-su), like the Maltese cross, is one of the symbols associated with Malta. The luzzu, painted in the traditional colours of red, blue and yellow, is a sturdy and reliable sea craft and can be put to sea in almost every kind of weather.
We're off to Gozo for the week-end. Will try to keep in touch.
Thank you very much for all your wonderful comments and for the fav's on yesterday's picture. Thank you also for putting the picture on pp. Very much appreciated.
Looks like a busy harbour with all the fishing boats, great cloud reflections.
