Do you remember the Popeye cartoons? Do you remember Olive, Popeye’s woman? I may be dreaming or going crazy (you may choose any one of them) but the lady being photographed immediately reminded me of Olive.
I took this shot on Easter Sunday at Marsalforn just before we went in one of the lovely restaurants for lunch. My attention was first attracted by the two men on their ‘luzzu’ looking out for something. I asked them what they were looking for and they said that a rope had entangled around the boat’s screw and they were trying to pull it up to free the screw. The place was in the ‘Menqa’ - an enclosure for the area’s fishing boats to shelter them from the rough seas which often hit the open bay. The wall in the background shelters the ‘Menqa’ from the seas and those two – probably tourists – thought it was a great place for some shots (the sea was calm so there was no danger for them)
