I have come to the last day of our vacation in Austria/Bavaria.
Our excursion on this day (27th July) took us first to the Eagle’s Nest. I will write about this when I post more photos.
I took this shot as our group waited to board the bus which was to take us to an elevator which carried us up to the Eagle’s Nest. I liked all the reflections on the side of the bus.
The Eagle’s Nest, is situated on a ridge atop the Kehlstein, a 1,834 m (6,017 ft) ridge rising above the town of Berchtesgaden. It is reached by a 4m (13ft) wide approach road which climbs 800 m (2,600 ft) over 6.5 km (4.0 mi) with high rocks on one side and a precipice on the other. It includes five tunnels but only one hairpin turn. Only the approved buses can take people up the climb and while one bus leaves the bottom another leaves the top of the ridge. At one point there is an intersection and one of the buses stops to allow the other pass in the opposite direction before continuing its journey.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
