For once I was lucky and that was during our weekend in Gozo.
In a very rare occasion, around 20 wild swans decided to stop in Malta for the Winter. We had had some good rainfall and the dam in the valley that leads to Marsalforn was full of rainwater. Normally, the occasional swan that passes over Malta stops for the night and the next day continues its migration further south or north. There were many who went to watch them either because they are bird lovers or just for curiosity.
For both reasons I had wished to be there, too, but I wouldn’t have taken the trouble to go before we decided to spend a weekend in Gozo. So I told the others that I wished to go and have a look and they all agreed and so we went. This is one shot of some of the swans floating around on the water.
The lucky bit is that the next day they decided to continue on their journey and flew off.
