This is the dome of the Cordoba cathedral. It is situated within the Mesquita – the Moorish mosque - part of which I showed yesterday.
The Cathedral, in the Renaissance style, was built in the early 16th century and squats in the centre of the mosque. It was a blessing for future generations that the mosque wasn’t razed to the ground to make way for the cathedral like what has happened to many other historic buildings.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
Lovely architecture to capture, and when I first viewed it I had a moment of an optical illusion effect, where the dome seemed concave and then convex and back again.
