Shot taken on 9th July, 2017 – third day of our Sorrento holiday.
This is an early morning shot before we departed for our day’s excursion. This is Mount Vesuvius, the treacherous volcano which exploded in the first century A.D burying the two cities of Pompeii and Heraclium and killing thousands of residents.
Temperatures during our week-long stay were around 40c and I think that looking at this picture makes you feel the heat of the coming day.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
Loved Vesuvius, so brooding and yet so mesmerising. We climbed to the crater at the top last October. I wouldn't want to walk up there in 40 degree heat though! Beautiful morning shot.
