Shot taken on 10th July, 2017 – fourth day of our Sorrento holiday.
I will not bore you with too many photos of the interior of the Caserta Royal Palace but a shot like this is a must to show the grandeur of the interior even though the royal family didn’t come here often.
Only a small part of the palace is open for the public. All the rooms we went through had very highly decorated ceilngs and this is an example. The picture is a merge of three shots.
Other parts of the palace are being put to good use as offices. and plice/military quarters.
Some interesting facts about the palace’s history
• In April 1945 the palace was the site of the signing of terms of the unconditional German surrender of forces in Italy.
• The first Allied war crimes trial took place in the palace in 1945; German general Anton Dostler was sentenced to death and executed nearby, in Aversa.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
Great shot of this more than beautiful painted ceiling. Can it be to much beauty? It is for me.

I would get a crick in my neck if I had to paint this ceiling.
