Second day of our Sicily holiday.
The Ragusa Cathedral dominates the city of Ragusa.
Ragusa Cathedral dedicated to St George, was built in the 18th century in the Baroque style to replace the temple destroyed by the 1693 earthquake. Work on the new building started in 1738 but the dome in Neoclassical style was only built in 1820. There is a flight of 250 steep steps to reach the main entry of the cathedral.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.
Wow, need sunglasses for this one! My eyes have begun to adjust to the browns and dim light of Autumn here, this is a gorgeous blast of Summer sun with a wonderful sky. Lovely architecture.
