The Museum of Archeology is located in the former Auberge de Provence. During the days of the Order of St John, each language of the order has its headquarters which was called auberge or hotel. The head of the Langue (French for language) lived in the auberge the other knights generally had their own dwellings. So this was the Auberge de Provence – a region of France before it was united.
And this is the hall in the upper floor of the auberge. I got into a conversation with a security officer and a cleaner when I got there and was told that at the moment the hall was being restored. When I came to take a shot of it the cleaner had left to continue his work and I was embarrassed to ask him to move away so here he is in the picture, too.
